It was suppose to be in the same vein as all the NFL Shop ad campaign commercial spots. Voice over of a family member reading the letter they wrote as the recipient opened the boxed gifts shipped from the NFL Shop.
They were cute, funny, always poking fun at the receivers’ fandom clash of their favorite teams.
It was Friday, November 13, 2015 and the entire crew had showed up at call time to Ralph Wilson Stadium (now New Era Field) to meet and film Rex Ryan in what seemed like would have been one of the funnier in the campaign and a big hit for all Buffalo Bills fans. Who would be the voice over while Coach Rex Ryan opened his gifts, well his brother Rob of course. Sending his his brother all kinds of New Orleans Saints swag. It was funny stuff.
Later we would be shooting Coach Rob Ryan, opening Buffalo Bills swag from his brother Rex, with funny letters attached.
Well, three days after we shot that commercial, on November 16, 2015, the day after the Saints had a 47–14 loss to the Washington Redskins, Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan was fired. So the commercials never aired.
In the meantime, here is one you can watch and enjoy while thinking about how fun those Ryan brothers spots would have been.
